BIG vs little social media

     Having a social media presence is essential to the success of any organization but being strategic about it is the key to having great engagement. Big companies use social media very differently, as compared to smaller local companies. A big difference is resources and technical availability but many vary in content and some smaller companies have also power to be even more personable than bigger companies.
     An example of a big company social media usage is Panera Bread. They have a very well managed website but it seem a bit busy but the color scheme is shared around all of their social media. Their Twitter page is msotly used for engagement and they post daily. The Facebook page has over one million 'likes' and it is mostly used for contest, announcements, charitable activities and engagement; they also post daily. Their Pinterest page is mostly to showcase charitable activities and their food. Finally, they use YouTube to showcase contest, to encourage people to share their "sandwich stories", provide recipes and give a behind the scenes of the bakers. 
     In contrast, Boston Baddest Burger & Sandwich Co. food truck also utilizes social media but in a different manner. Their website is fairly simple and straightforward. They have a Twitter page used for posting their current location, they post regular but have only 177 followers. Their Facebook page is used a little more regularly to also post their location, photos and explaining their sandwiches.
     Because, both companies are food related business the best strategy that Boston Baddest Burger & Sandwich Co. can learn from Panera Bread is the behind-the-scene videos. Panera Bread shows recipes from their bakers and Boston Baddest Burger & Sandwich Co. can also do this to be more personable and engage with their followers. The people that make the food are the people that sell it, they have a direct contact with customers offline and should bring it online also.
